Autolocator soon in print

Motor industry e-business motorONLINE has recorded 15 consecutive months of profit and will launch Autolocator Classifieds, a magazine distributed in partnership with CAR, next month, the company’s chief executive Paul Hutton says.

Hutton this week said motorONLINE’s revenues had grown by 45 per cent year-on-year and that “our customer base has more than doubled. Importantly, we have signed on two vehicle manufacturers, three dealer groups and 20 of the largest component manufacturers and suppliers”.

Moreover, it is anticipated that Autolocator Classifieds, which will be distributed bi-monthly with top-selling automotive consumer magazine CAR, will revolutionise the used vehicle market in South Africa. Until now, Autolocator has provided the public online access to vehicles stocked at 305 dealers across the country.

However, the first edition of Autolocator Classifieds, which will be distributed with the March edition of CAR, will offer 52 pages listing for sale all of motorONLINE’s subscribing vehicle dealers’ inventories (over 8 000 units), thus making thousands of used vehicles instantly available for those without Internet access.

The vehicles will be listed according to region, make and model and individual vehicles will be listed according to price descending from the highest to lowest, it was announced.

“motorONLINE will also be delivering the motorONLINE Trade Application to a further two large groups, allowing them to purchase and sell traded-in stock, overage inventory, internally to the group as well as to approved traders,” Hutton said.

“A new Online Registrations service enables online communication with the licensing authorities for the registration and licensing of vehicles. The initiative developed over 18 months in conjunction with Business Against Crime and the Gauteng Department of Transport.

“During this time, over 4 000 vehicles were registered on-line with an average turn-around time of only six hours and not a single fraudulent application. The initiative has the approval of the Gauteng Department of Transport, Roads and Works,” he added.
