Chevrolet Motors South Africa has bolstered its Captiva range with the addition of a new 2,2-litre turbodiesel engine option.

The diesel unit at the heart of the Chevrolet Captiva 2,2D LTZ features common rail fuel injection and a variable-vane turbocharger. Developing 135 kW at 3 800 r/min and 400 N.m of torque at 2 000 r/min, this engine returns 8,0 L/100 km and emits 200 g/km of CO2.

Drive is channelled to all four corners via a six-speed automatic transmission with an adaptive shift-control function that initiates gradient braking on steep slopes and can detect whether the vehicle is towing a trailer to sequence gearshifts accordingly.

This particular model’s LTZ specification includes such interior features as leather upholstery, power steering, electric seats, climate control, electric windows and mirrors, automatic headlamps and windscreen wipers, cruise control, sunroof and an MP3-compatible CD/radio audio system with RDS/MP3/aux/Bluetooth.

Starting at R427 500, the Captiva 2,2D LTZ comes with a five-year/120 000 km warranty and three-year/60 000 km maintenance plan as standard.
