Draught-top Supersports

Bentley Continental Supersports now also a convertible

This is the description of the media involved in the media container above.

Last year Bentley built its most powerful production car to date, the Continental Supersports coupé. Not only is it ridiculously powerful, but it's also significantly lighter than a "regular" Continental GT. Now the Supersports is also available in convertible guise.

The Supersports Convertible is powered by the same 6,0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 that does service in its hardtop sibling, capable of running on both petrol and E85 bioethanol, or any combination of the two. With 463 kW and 800 N.m driven through all four wheels via a six-speed "Quickshift" automatic transmission, Bentley claims the Supersports Convertible sprints to 100 km/h from zero in 4,2 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 325 km/h.

"The new Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible blends thrilling performance and dramatic styling with luxury and practicality in the Bentley open-top tradition. Extreme power combines with pioneering FlexFuel technology, now shared with all Continental models, reflecting Bentley's ongoing commitment to more environmental motoring," says Bentley chairman and chief executive Dr Franz-Josef Paefgen.

The Supersports Convertible boasts agile handling thanks to stiffer front suspension bushes and a new rear anti-roll bar, with the overall set-up 10 and 15 mm lower than a Continental GTC front and rear. With the inclusion of Continuous Damping Control, the Supersports convertible retains class-leading levels of comfort and refinement.

Externally, the Supersports Convertible announces its intent with a dramatic bodykit that includes revised front air intakes, 20-inch wheels and flared fenders. "The Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible and Coupé are the ultimate driver's Bentleys and that is reflected in unique design cues that provide a bold, sporting look, from whatever angle the cars are admired. Even from 50 metres behind on a dark road, you can just tell it's a Supersports," says Raul Pires, Head of Exterior Design.

The Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible has an electrically-operated, three-layer fabric roof (available in eight colours) with advanced acoustic insulation to provide superb levels of refinement and comfort when raised.
