Arguably one of the most beautiful automobiles to grace the motoring world, Maserati’s GranTurismo has perhaps only ever left us wanting in one department – outright performance. The Modena-based manufacturer has addressed this with the new GranTurismo Sport, which will make its international debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

Essentially, the Sport replaces the GranTurismo S – which is a more powerful and sharper model of the regular GranTurismo. Among the changes are a redesigned front bumper with vents that aid both engine and brake cooling, as well as new LED headlamps, which now features daytime running lights. At the rear, darker taillamps add to the increased visual appeal.

Thankfully, even more ponies have been let loose from the 4,7-litre V8 , which now produces in the region of 340 kW – which is even more powerful than the hardcore MC Stradale version. With a torque figure expected to be well in excess of 500 N.m, the new Sport should also be the quickest version of the GranTurismo yet.
Maserati’s kept its cards pretty close to its chest with regard to information about the Gran Turismo Sport, because we don’t know what else to expect other than that the interior will boast revised seats and steering wheel.
