The new Toyota Verso was recently launched with three specification levels on offer and with a choice of a 1,6 litre and 1,8-litre Valvematic petrol.
According to Toyota, the new Toyota Verso “… combines true multi-purpose vehicle practicality and flexibility with the comfort and driving performance of a passenger vehicle”. This new Verso has a longer wheelbase, increased track at both the front and the rear, and a revised suspension set up when compared to the model it replaces.
Exterior enhancements include colour coded bumpers and side mirrors. Safety features include a highly rigid, impact absorbing body shell incorporating a large percentage of high tensile steel. According to Toyota, the Verso “… has been engineered to fulfil the stringent Euro NCAP 5-star safety criteria”.
The designers of the new Verso have aimed to produce a vehicle that boasts class leading aerodynamic performance and claims to boast a drag coefficient of just Cd 0,295.
On the inside, the facia is finished in brushed-wood, and features include a tilt and telescopic adjustment for the steering wheel, electric power steering, and a rear window demister with timer.
Additional features include power windows with one touch operation at the front on the entry-level model, manual headlamp levelling, two cup holders in the front, 2+2 cup holders in the rear and a manual air conditioning system.
While Toyota hopes to make up the majority of its Verso sales in the family market, it is also aiming to meet the needs of ‘empty nesters’ that look to the attributes of a dynamic multi-purpose vehicle to support their active lifestyles.
The multi-function steering wheel features satellite audio controls and hands-free telephone functionality.
An all-new interior layout has been designed to offer more space and utility storage. The company claims the improvements to the Toyota Easy Flat-7 seating system offer a higher level of comfort and easier operation. Particular focus has been placed on enhancing the seating accommodation in the second and third rows of seats.
There are three specification levels available and a choice of a 1,6-litre, 1.8 litre Valvematic petrol engines or 2.0 litre D-4D diesel engine. All models are mated with a six-speed manual transmission.
Toyota has formulated the Verso so that it meets potentially diverse needs by offering practicality together with style and performance. It claims that “… it presents itself as a lifestyle choice capable of meeting family transport needs at a particular stage of life, as well as a practical and flexible transport solution for the progressive mainstream motorist.”
