Ms Oona Scheepers – Head: Design Colour/Trim at Volkswagen AG


Born in Prieska (South Africa).

From 1981 to 1984 studied Graphic Design in Cape Town.

Began her professional career in 1985 as a junior designer in Cape Town. Then the paths lead her abroad where she spent two years in Worthing, England. In 1989 she moved to Germany, where she worked as a freelance designer in the automotive industry in Cologne.

In 1997, joined Porsche’s design department in Weissach. Part of the team that was responsible for the Porsche Cayenne and Carrera GT designs.

In 2004, moved to Audi Design, as Head of design, colour and trim, responsible for all models as well as special projects and show cars. In November 2007, moved to a similar position at Volkswagen in Wolfsburg, and is responsible for the overall design and colour features of the entire Volkswagen Group products.

Been involved with numerous car launches, including the Porsche Carrera GT, Cayenne, Cayman, Audi R8, A5, A4, TT, and is responsible for the complete product palette, Utility Vehicles & Show Cars, and global responsibility for Design Colour & Trim, VW AG and VW Group.

Her design philosophy is “Keep it simple – every line has a function”!

Creativity is not only a natural talent. Good ideas are created through hard work and a lot of thought – some inspiration with a lot of transpiration! Direct communication is the golden rule to guarantee good automotive design. Creativity means approaching things from a different angle.
