The establishment of the first BMW approved motorcycle rental company has been announced in Johannesburg, and with demand growing, a Cape Town office may be on its way.
Motorrad Executive Rentals, situated at the Auto Alpina in Boksburg, offers enthusiasts an opportunity to explore the company’s range of motorcycles.
“BMW motorcycle rentals works on exactly the same principles as normal car rentals, with a variety of rental options available,” said Colin Gallop, general manager at Motorrad Executive Rentals. “For insurance purposes, you need to be over 25 years old and in possession of a valid South African or International drivers licence”.
Motorrad Executive Rentals currently have 20 motorcycles in their fleet, which covers the BMW model range of road and off-road bikes. All motorcycles are equipped with ABS, heated grips and panniers, but clients need to provide their own helmets, gloves and protective clothing.
Apart from all the usual rental services, the company also provides a travel advisory service to assist motorcyclists in planning their journey. Clients are able to include neighbouring countries such as Swaziland, Lesotho, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Botswana in their travels.
While the company does arrange transfers and deliveries across the country, it is planning to open an additional office.
“So far, we have truly had a very positive response from everyone and bookings continue to grow by the day,” said Gallop. “We are looking to open up an agency in Cape Town in the near future to expand our current rental fleet to accommodate the growing demand.”
