I don’t know about you but to me one of the best camera angles shown during a Formula One broadcast has to be the one from just above the driver’s head, looking out over the steering wheel, at the track ahead. Few other available camera angles from around the track are able to capture as closely the sense of speed and thrill that a driver must experience with every completed lap behind the wheel of the ultimate racecar.
There is, however, one more camera angle that could potentially top this and have television audiences rushing to upgrade their ‘boxes to full HD 3D units, although it would mean that drivers would have to race with only one eye on the road.
In this video, test driver Lucas Di Grassi heads out onto the Circuit de Catalunya with a video camera strapped to his helmet (and blocking his view out of one eye), while testing Pirelli tyres in a Toyota F1 car.
Lucas said: “I had to drive with only one eye open as the camera was blocking my other eye, quite tricky.”
Muito obrigado, Lucas.
