The thing about tyre walls is that they tend to protect drivers and spectators during a racing accident, but have little sympathy for the metal and mechanics that makes contact with them.
This was the case for car number 17, driven by Petter Strasser, during a Lamborghini Super Trofeo support race for the ALMS event at the Virginia International Raceway this weekend.
Although Strasser was unharmed, the same can’t be said for his Gallardo.
Ouch.
