French manufacturer Peugeot will make its eagerly anticipated return to the Dakar Rally next year using a highly modified rear-wheel drive racer loosely based on its 2008 crossover. But unlike the locally-built Toyota Hilux and dominant Mini All4, which boast all-wheel drive, the 2008 DKR will use a rear-wheel drive set-up.
The four-time winners will employ the services of former WRC champion and Dakar winner Carlos Sainz, as well as multiple champion in the motorcycle category, Cyril Despres.
