Although it’s only due to make its official debut at the upcoming New York Motor Show, pictures of the 2013 Range Rover Sport have hit the ‘web.
The photographs show what looks like an amalgam of Range Rover and Evoque styling cues – the latter being especially evident in the taillamp treatment. The further raked roofline, deeper sheet metal on the flanks and shortened rear overhangs give the car a more dynamic air.
There are also suggestions that the 2013 Range Rover Sport will be offered with the option of a seven-seat interior layout.
The 2013 Range Rover Sport will be underpinned by Jaguar Land Rover’s all-aluminum PLA (Premium Lightweight Architecture) platform that does service on the new Range Rover and will soon be applied to the next iterations of the Jaguar’s XF, XJ and upcoming D-segment saloon. This platform will contribute to a kerb weight that is around 300 kg lighter than that of the outgoing Sport.
The engine line-up has yet to be confirmed, but it’s fair to assume that a supercharged V8 will form the core of the model line-up, possibly supplemented by such eco-friendly options as a 2,0-litre turbodiesel (think rival to the Mercedes-Benz ML250 CDI) and a hybrid.
