Ford Motor Company has announced that its current president and CEO, Alan Mulally will retire on 1 July. His replacement has also been selected, in the form of Mark Fields.
Mulally has been in this position for eight years when Ford’s executive chairman Bill Ford recruited Mulally from Boeing in 2006.
Fields move up from his current position as COO, which he held since 2012. Before his current title he led Ford’s transformation in North America from 2005. However, he has been with the company for a total of 25 years.
Bill Ford had the following to say regarding Mulally’s retirement: “Under Alan’s leadership, Ford not only survived the global economic crisis, it emerged as one of the world’s strongest auto companies”.
