The next Ford Kuga will feature a full range of engine and transmission options when it launches locally in the middle of next year.
Ford Motor Company South Africa has confirmed its compact SUV will offer buyers the option of a 1,6-litre EcoBoost petrol with six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission and a 2,0-litre TDCi turbodiesel with PowerShift dual-clutch ‘box.
The new model is said to be 10 per cent more aerodynamic than its predecessor, which should aid economy, while it features an active grille-shutter system that reduces wind resistance.
We will see Ford’s voice activated in-car SYNC connectivity system as standard (it’s already available on the upgraded Focus), with features such as active-park assist as an option. A number of safety technologies will also be available, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot information system as well as lane-keeping aid. Active City Stop, an alert system for potential hazards in congested traffic, will also be offered.
First to be seen on a Ford product in South Africa is a hands-free automated tailgate that allows you to open or close the rear tailgate by sweeping a foot under the bumper.
Full details of the engine line-up, specifications and features will become clear closer to its launch date.
