The new Vanquish, Aston Martin’s successor to the DBS, has been spied completely uncovered in Padua, Italy.
Snapped by one of our readers, the Vanquish shares a great deal of its styling with Aston Martin’s AM310 concept, which was recently revealed at the Villa Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
There are definite nods to the likes of the Virage in the new car’s frontal aspect, while the semi-corona-strip brakelamps and pronounced haunches appear to have drawn their inspiration from the One-77 limited-run supercar.
The shots also show off a sumptuous interior, complete with quilted-leather seat panels, that sports a more radically raked centre console and a revised switchgear array.
Aston Martin has not yet divulged any technical details regarding the new Vanquish, but it’s fair to assume that the AM310 concept provides a plausible blueprint. This means that the car could be underpinned by Aston’s lightweight aluminium VH architecture and could utilise a rear transaxle to improve overall weight distribution. Power is likely to come from an uprated version of the current car’s 6,0-litre V12 developing 427 kW – considerably more than the 380 kW made by the engine in the current DBS.
An official launch date has not yet been confirmed, but the general consensus is that the Vanquish will emerge either late this year or in the first quarter of 2013.
