BMW took the Johannesburg International Motor Show as an opportunity to reveal several new and exciting models to the local media this morning. Most of which are make their local debuts.
i3 and i8
Most exciting news has to the electric twins i3 and i8. These two new models herald BMW’s foray into the world of sustainable mobility. Both of these, all, carbon-fibre models will be available here next year, soon after they go on sale in international markets. You can see and read more about the i3 here.
4 Series
The company didn’t hold back and also unveiled the 4 Series in 435i guise. The new range is effectively the two-door version of the popular 3 Series sedan. We drove the 435i at its international launched earlier this year and reported on it here.
X5
The brand new X5 was also present. Looking as imposing as ever, the SUV took pride of place among the other models on show. Gareth Dean drove the X5 a few weeks ago and had this to say. Three models will be available at launch in January: the xDrive 50i, xDrive40d and M50d high-performance derivative.
X4
Another SUV-type vehicle from BMW is a smaller version of the X6. This newcomer has a similar, sloping roofline to the X6, consider it a coupe version of the X3 to make things easier to understand.
