Renault has confirmed the specification and details on its hot little Twingo models – the RS and Gordini. South Africans can expect the Gordini version to arrive before year-end.
The styling of the Twingo RS follow the new Renault identity and includes a dynamic grille design and a front bumper that incorporates an F1-style blade – a detail that will be carried out on all RS models. At the rear, there’s a spoiler mounted to the tailgate and a large bumper that houses a diffuser. Other styling highlights include chrome details for the fog lights.
In terms of the Gordini version, 17-inch wheels fill the large arches, while the interior features leather upholstery with “Gordini” lettering dotted about the blue cabin.
Under the bonnet lies a naturally aspirated 1,6-litre 16-valve engine. After being fettled with by RenaultSport, it pushes out 98 kW and 160 N.m of torque. The Sport chassis is standard, with the Cup chassis as an option in some markets. In terms of environmental impact, this vehicle has a CO2 emissions figure of 150 g/km. Fuel consumption is 6,5 litres/100 km.
