Kia’s revamped Soul comact MPV has just broken cover, revealing changes to the front and rear light clusters, where LED elements grace all four corners, as well as a modern-looking set of new 18-inch alloy wheels.
Overseas press releases indicate that there will be an updated voice-activated infotainment system, which includes a 4,3-inch colour touch screen interface. This screen will also feature a rear parking camera system to augment the park distance control module.
In addition to the cosmetic tweaks, Kia has also made some improvements to the engines. The 2,0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine has been updated and now delivers 122 kW while a new 1,6-litre unit delivers 103 kW. The drivetrain has also been revised ewith the addition of new six-speed manual and automatic transmissions, along with Kia’s new Idle Stop and Go (ISG) technology. Combined with gasoline direct injection, this system should see help the Soul see a significant reduction in fuel consumption.
Kia South Africa confirmed that the new facelifted Soul will be available sometime during the end of October or the beginning of November. The new 2,0-litre will form part of the local line-up while it is also highly likely the case for the 1,6-litre unit with both manual and automatic transmissions. The diesel model will consequently fall away.
