Volkswagen has unveiled its facelifted Tiguan at the Geneva Show. This freshened model receives some visual tweaks and as well a wider selection of powerplants.
The compact SUV's revised front end is dominated by new head lamp designs that feature U-shaped LED daytime running lights. At the rear, the all-new tail-lamps resemble those fitted to the new Touareg.
The facelifted Tiguan will again be in available with feither two- or four-wheel drive configurations and some of the new specifications include, inter alia – a driver fatigue detection system and lane assist function.
THe European market will be offered a choice of seven engines, of which three are all-new. There are four TSI petrol engines with outputs that range from 90 kW to 155 kW, while the outputs for the three TDI units span a power range from 81 kW to 125 kW. A seven-speed DSG is now available as an option.
Those Tiguans that feature VW’s Bluemotion technology, make use of a stop/start system and a battery regeneration mode that is claimed to “significantly reduce the fuel consumption”.
South Africans can expect to see the facelifted Tiguan in the local market later this year.
