A few months ago, at the Geneva Motor Show, Jeep launched the Renegade. It is the smallest member of the Jeep family and with it the American firm is aiming to capitalise on the small crossover trend that makes up such a lucrative part of the market (with models such as Nissan’s Juke and Kia’s Soul).
Based on that platform will be another small crossover, the Fiat 500X. This is a proper sharing of resources within the Fiat Chrysler family, unlike some of the badge-engineered models we’ve seen to date.
The X model grows the 500 family, which currently consists of the the hatch, cabriolet and MPV-esque L model. Drivetrain options and underpinnings are bound to be shared between the Jeep and the Fiat, though the differences externally and within the cabin are obvious.
As you can see from the test mule, the Fiat will feature interior treatment that keeps it in line with other family members, such as the colour-coded facia.
With models already roaming the streets, it is rumoured that the 500X will make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show later this year.
