The Australian-designed Ford Everest concept has been unveiled at a Ford Go Further event Down Under.
The concept features seven seats, a trapezoidal grille, rugged looks and a sculptured profile.
Little is known about the vehicle other than that it is Ranger-based and will most likely share much of its mechanical bits with the pick-up. Ford stated that it will “set a new benchmark among SUVs” as well as offer “off-road capability and toughness”. This concept previews a production Everest that will go on sale globally to take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Previously, there were reports that suggested that the next Everest will feature an all-diesel engine line-up, a choice of 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains as well as manual and automatic transmission options. These reports also suggested that the Everest will come in LTD and XLT specification levels and could possibly make use of a coil-sprung rear suspension set-up to improve on-road manners and a more upmarket cabin. Earlier this year we also reported that some spy images of what looks to be a test mule had surfaced.
