Ford has announced a series of updates to its popular EcoSport crossover at this year’s Geneva motor Show.
There have been a number of subtle cosmetic changes but the most prominent has to be the availability of models without the rear door-mounted spare wheel. These particular models will feature a revised swing mechanism that makes partially opening the door in confined spaces a bit easier.
Interior updates include a revised instrument cluster, thicker sound deadening materials and chrome-garnished surrounds for the electric window switch and centre console panels.
Changes have also been made to the EcoSport’s underpinnings in the shape of a revisions to the rear torsion beam and spring/damper rates for a suspension setup that’s 10 mm lower than before. In addition, the power steering and stability control systems have also been overhauled.
European models will also be offered with an infotainment system capable of integrating a reverse camera and satellite navigation, as well as a winter pack with heated seats and windshield for chillier climes.
The cosmetic and mechanical updates will eventually filter down into the local EcoSport line-up, while the likes of the sat-nav and reverse camera seem less likely. An exact local ETA has yet to be confirmed.
