Count yourself lucky if you can find a stock-standard standard, early-generation Honda Civic V-TEC. Most of these extremely popular and ever reliable three-door hatchbacks (and four-door versions) have found owners that have changed the exhuast system, lowered the car and upped the performance. Drive after 23:00 at night on our cities’ roads and you will definitely spot a few.
Back in 1996 we reported: “Has the V-TEC usurped the Golf GTi as the quintessential hot hatch? Yes.” Serious words, but with the V-TEC technology and a sprint time from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 8,27 seconds, it is understandable.
