Now and then a dealership, or dealership franschice have a go at improving (reading tuning) some of the products they sell. Usually it is the case of improving power delivery.
Paging through the 1980 August issue of we came across a road test with the by-line “Conceived and marketed by the Steyns Sigma dealership, the fiery Mazda 323 is handsome and very fast”. Very fast is those days translated into a 0-100 km/h time of 10,1 seconds, supported by the engine that now produced 82 kW instead of the original engine’s insignificant 52 kW.
Note the small, chromed nudge bar (on a hatch!) attached to the front bumper, followed by the roof-mounted spoiler.
