I need your help with a fuel consumption calculation.
I’ll be travelling from Mamelodi to Johannesburg CBD from Monday to Friday, and my calculations tell me I’ll be travelling about 170 km per day on a return trip.
How much money is it going to cost me for fuel each month? Could you provide a table to calculate it, as I’m fi nding it diffi cult to do the calculations?

It’s obviously not possible to publish a table in CAR, but the calculation is not diffi cult. To perform any estimate you have to know what your car’s average consumption is.
Assume it is 13,78 kilometres per litre, then to cover 170 km you will have to buy 170 divided by 13,78 = 12,34 litres of petrol . If this costs R7,56 per litre, then the 170 km will cost you 12,34 times 7,56 = R93,29. In fi ve days your commuting will have cost you R466,45.
