Greenpop is a tree-planting social enterprise that plants trees in under-greened areas in the Cape Flats since September 2010. The initiative has managed to plant more than 6 500 trees at over 100 schools and crèches, but has had to rely solely on a borrowed truck and daily loans to transport the trees. Until now…
A colourfully branded Gran Max -one-tonne bakkie has been sponsored by Daihatsu and RamsayMedia. This sponsorship was a collaboration between the two companies, with RamsayMedia offering Daihatsu advertising space to the value of the vehicle in two of its magazines, CAR and Leisure Wheels.
RamsayMedia has made the environment one of its key corporate social responsibility initiatives (CSI) and Greenpop is one of the organisations its supports. “As media owners, greening the environment is important to us. We are proud to have been part of such a wonderful initiative – thank you to Daihatsu for joining us in it, and to Greenpop for the boundless enthusiasm,” said Sandy Immelman, head of RamsayMedia’s CSI.
Daihatsu’s marketing manager, Nicholas Campbell, said, “In line with Daihatsu’s ongoing efforts to keep South Africa green, we are very pleased to be a part of this initiative and to be able to make a difference to such a worthy organisation.”
To mark this occasion, Greenpop planted a tree at the Helderberg branch of Daihatsu as part of the handover. Misha Teasdale, who is Greenpop’s director, expressed his gratitude, “To date, Greenpop’s motto has been, ‘we run on passion and horsepower’ – the gift of this bakkie will definitely add more horsepower to our planting!”
The 1,5-litre Gran Max bakkie has three-way drop sides and a 3,7 m2 load deck, power steering and ABS. It’s valued at R124 000.
