Following up on last year’s unveiling of an Elantra coupe dressed up in zombie survival best for the San Diego Comic-Con, this year the Korean manufacturer teamed up with Galpin Auto Sports, creators of The Walking Dead and media company Future US to bring this year’s show-goers a Veloster kitted out in similar fashion.
The Comic-Con Veloster Zombie Survival Machine is of course equipped with all sorts of weaponry with which to repel the undead in the event of a zombie apocalypse, but no mention has been made of what lies beneath the bonnet. One can only expect then that this particular Veloster is a turbocharged model.
The Veloster ZSM’s features list is extensive – up front there are two chainsaws and a razor-tooth grille to deal with any of the bloodsuckers that get too close, as well as dual bonnet-mounted machine guns that can be controlled from the cabin.
The windows have been replaced with amour plate wrapped in barbed wire, while the front screen is protected by thick steel bars. There are also flamethrowers and knife blades along the rest of the ZSM.
As a last resort, occupants can wield a Katana or spiked baseball bat or pull a machete out of sheaths that replace the cupholders, but that shouldn’t ever be the case when there’s a .50 caliber machine gun mounted to the roof.
