According to Autoblog, the Jaguar XK, which has been in existence since 1996, will be discontinued this year. The XK, which has only seen two generations in 18 years, will make space for new models in the Coventry-based manufacturer’s line-up.
Apparently there will still be a 2015 XK, but that will be the last we see of the company’s sole grand tourer. While a direct replacement for the XK might be a long way off, there remains exciting new prospects for Jaguar in the not-too-distant future – including the C-X17 crossover (which is still in concept form) and the XE compact executive, which will do battle against BMW’s 3 Series, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi’s A4.
But while Jaguar infiltrates segments new to the brand, it’s safe to assume that the F-Type will assume the mantle of the brand’s halo performance model – especially with the F-Type Coupe about to make its debut.
