During a trip with Kia Motors to Seoul last year, we had a chance to speak to the company’s vice president for the Middle East, Africa and Asia region, Brandon Yea. Back then we asked him about the possibility of Kia building a sportscar. He denied it. Fast forward a year and that smile he had on his face wasn’t there without reason.
Kia has just released details of a four-door sport sedan that it will unveil at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The concept sports the necessary ingredients for a four-seater sportscar: rear-wheel drive and a rumoured V8 engine.
As this car shows, it will open a new chapter in Kia Motors’ future, one that should see it producing some very tasty and hopefully performance-oriented cars in the near future.
Peter Schreyer, Kia Motors chief design officer, had the following to say regarding this concept car: “No matter from which perspective you look at it – this concept car is roaring with energy and ready for take-off.”
Kia will also unveil the three-door version of the new Rio and facelift of the Kia Soul.
