KTM’s hardcore X-Bow track car has been given a (very small) dose of civility in a bid to make donning that full-face crash helmet an optional affair.
Next week’s Geneva Motor Show will see the unveiling of the KTM X-Bow GT. This more road-friendly take on the firm’s skeletal track special features a windscreen that wraps around its occupants to take the brunt of the insects, grit and other bits of flying detritus.
Besides the featured images, KTM has remained tight-lipped regarding any further details, but it’s believed that the X-Bow GT will also feature a lightweight, removable roof panel that can be utilised at speeds of up to 130 km/h.
Power is likely to come from the standard X-Bow’s turbocharged 2,0-litre engine. The addition of a windscreen is unlikely to have any major effect upon the X-Bow’s kerb weight, so it’s fair to assume that the 177 kW/310 N.m unit will propel the X-Bow GT from standstill to 100 km/h in around 3,9 seconds.
