Before its official local launch next month, Land Rover SA has listed pricing and spec of its brand-new Discovery Sport on its website. The full specs are to be found at this CARmag.co.za story.
The entry-level model is the 2,2 TD4 S AT, which uses the venerable 2,2-litre turbodiesel (which will be replaced later this year with Jaguar Land Rover’s Ingenium range of powerplants). It develops 110 kW and 400 N.m, hits 100 km/h in 10,3 seconds, tops out at 180 km/h and uses just 6,0 litres/100 km of diesel of the combined cycle. The TD4 costs R545 901 in baseline S trim (which is the only option on this model).
Next up is the SD4 S AT, which also employs the 2,2-litre turbodiesel engine but in a higher state of tune (140 kW/420 N.m). It reaches 100 km/h from standstill in 8,9 seconds, can hit 188 km/h and consumes 6,1 litres of fuel for every 100 km driven. This version retails for R595 020 (S), R640 320 (SE) and R697 020 (HSE).
Topping the range is the sole petrol version, the Si4 AT. It’s 2,0-litre turbocharged engine boasts 177 kW and 340 N.m. The Si4 accelerates to 100 km/h in 8,2 seconds, runs to 199 km/h and need 8,0 litres/100 km. Its price is R598 200 (S), R643 500 (SE) and R739 300 (HSE).
The SD4 HSE Luxury and Si4HSE Luxury cost R736 210 and R739 300 respectively.
