I applaud manufacturers who produce lightweight models when all others tend to go up in mass. Lotus is one the best at the weight watching game and has produced some sterling examples over the years, including the 2-Eleven (pictured).
In a recent interview with German publication Auto Motor und Sport, Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales, provided details on a successor to the 2-Eleven. The 3-Eleven will be based on stiffened version of the Exige’s already stiff platform.
Under the engine cover will be a V6 engine producing no less than 310 kW, coupled with a target mass of 890 kg the 3-Eleven should be able to lap the Nurburgring in a roughly 7 minutes 10 seconds. While no acceleration figure has been quoted, though we expect it to be fairly brisk off the line, Gales did say that top speed should be in the region of 290 km/h.
The road-legal, yes it will have number plates and indicators, 3-Eleven will make its debut later this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
