Mahindra’s Reva Electric Vehicles division has announced that its production-ready EV will be dubbed the Mahindra e2o and will usher in a range of attainable eco-friendly vehicles.
The Mahindra e2o forms part of what was recently revealed by Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra to be the company’s vision of future mobility. This undertaking, which is being kicked off with the e2o, involves the production of vehicles and products that encompass what are described as the 5 C’s – clean, convenient, connected, clever and cost-effective.
Having undergone extensive testing and validation, the Mahindra e2o has been declared roadworthy in India and will be made available to the public soon.
The e2o will draw its power from a set of lithium-ion batteries, can be charged from a domestic 15 ampere plug point and will have an operational range of around 100 km on a single charge. The e2o will also be able to draw power from a solar-driven charging station through what Mahindra calls “Sun2Car” technology.
Production will take place at the firm’s new plant in Bengaluru – a facility built to meet platinum certification for environmental management and capable of producing 30 000 units per annum.
