Mahindra will be using this year’s Nampo Harvest Day Show, running from the 15th – 18th May, to showcase its extended range of pick-ups, including special editions of the Scorpio, Genio and new SsangYong models, to the farming community.
“Mahindra, which is the utility vehicle market leader in India, is finding favour with many members of the farming community in South Africa with its rugged range of pick-ups and SUVs,” explained the company’s CEO, Ashok Thakur. “We have also customised several of the models with added value equipment which we believe will appeal to farmers and all those who enjoy off-roading”.
The Mahindra stand will showcase nine vehicles; a trio of Adventure versions of the Scorpio (SUV, SC pick-up, DC pick-up developed in conjunction with off-road specialists LA Sport), a single-cab Bolero pick-up, one of the new Genio pick-ups and a pair of special edition models. One is a Scorpio pick-up that has been modified with help from Leisure Wheels magazine and the other an XUV500 customised in conjunction with Weg/GO! Magazine – both of which are available on special order from LA Sport.
A pair of new SssangYong models will also find their way onto the Mahindra stand – the Korando and Actyon Sport.
“We are delighted that the timing of this year’s Nampo Show has allowed us to display two models in the SsangYong range, the Korando SUV and Actyon Sport double cab pick-up, as Mahindra SA is the new distributor of these Korean products in Southern Africa”, says Thakur.
