One of the world’s most anticipated supercars of 2013 has been sold out. Eight months after its reveal at the Geneva Motor Show, McLaren confirmed that its P1 order books are now full. Ahead of schedule!
With all 375 models being accounted for, McLaren said that the target of selling all 375 has been breached ahead of schedule.
“We set ourselves the target to be sold out by year-end off the back of the first cars being delivered to customers in September.” a company spokesman said. Production of the P1 started in early September with cars being built at a rate of one per day.
The P1 features a 3,8-litre V8 twin-turbo engine and an electric motor that develops 132 kW and 260 N.m., giving it a total power output of 674 kW and 900 N.m. Performance, too, is a strong point of the P1. 0 – 100 km/h is dispatched in 2,8 sec, while 0 – 200 km/h and 0–300 km/h takes 6,8 sec and 16,5 sec respectively! With enough road the P1 will reach an electronically-limited top speed of 350 km/h! To further aid performance, the P1 also features a F1-style DRS wing.
The P1 carries a (equivalent) price tag of R 13,7 million, not that it matters to anyone with that kind of change lying around.
