The first pictures have leaked of the new Mini Cooper S. Set to be unveiled in the near future – quite possibly this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show – the most significant styling change is without a doubt at the front of the car.
The bonnet as well as the windscreen is now more angled to give the car a smoother profile, while the headlights are now less pronounced than before. As we have seen on previous BMW’s 5 Series models, the Mini is likely to feature circular daytime running lights situated around the headlights.
Expect the Mini to grow in size too, while more Mini and BMW models are likely to be based on this platform than before. The engine line-up will probably include an updated version of the 1,6-litre four-cylinder engine, in both naturally-aspirated and turbocharged format.
A 1,5-litre, three-cylinder engine, is also in the works, and could join the range at a later stage.
We expect the new Mini to arrive in South Africa during the first quarter of 2014.
