Mini has lifted the wraps off its JCW Paceman ahead of both its Geneva Motor Show debut next week and its arrival on the local market in June.
The Mini JCW Paceman is powered by a turbocharged 1,6-litre engine, which can be coupled to either a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an optional six-speed automatic.
This unit produces 160 kW at 6 000 r/min and peak torque of 280 N.m between 1 900 and 5 000 r/min, which can be increased to 300 N.m for short periods between 2 100 and 4 500 r/min.
Drive is channelled through Mini’s All4 all-wheel drive system, which is capable of apportioning torque 50/50 between the front and rear axles in challenging conditions or 100 per cent to the rear when pressing on.
Regardless of the specified transmission, this unit will propel the JCW from standstill to 100 km/h in 6,9 seconds. The top speed is, however, transmission-dependent with the manual hitting 226 km/h for the manual and the automatic 224 km/h.
Among the JCW’s exterior styling features are an aerodynamic body kit, a sports exhaust system with chrome finishers, John Cooper works decals on the radiator grille, tailgate, door sill strips and side indicator surrounds and 18-inch alloy wheels in a twin-spoke design.
Like the rest of the Mini family, the JCW Paceman is highly configurable. For example, buyers can order the car’s roof and wing mirrors in Chili Red, an option that is not offered on the regular Paceman. A set of 19-inch rims in a cross-spoke design is also an optional extra..
Inside, passengers are treated to four bespoke sport seats and a premium audio system, piano black trim and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel.
We can expect the Mini JCW Paceman to arrive on the local market in June.
