For a long time the Mitsubishi brand has offered a very limited passenger car line-up in South Africa, but following the recent introduction of the Lancer Evo X, it would appear that 2013 will see the Japanese marque expand its portfolio even more.
Rumoured to be headed our way by the third quarter of 2013 is the Mirage, a 3,7-metre long, five-seat B-segment hatchback that could compete with the likes of the Nissan Micra, Ford Figo, new Honda Brio, VW Vivo and Toyota Etios. In other markets the Mirage is offered primarily with an economical three-cylinder 1,2 litre petrol engine, coupled with either manual or automatic transmissions. In Japan a 1,0-litre model (coupled with a CVT) is offered that is said to target ultimate efficiency (30 km/Litre) – this model features stop/start, for example.
Also coming our way from Mitsubishi next year is the new Outlander.
