It doesn’t quite seem to fit in with Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini, But as Pagani and Koenigsegg proved there is always room for another supercar manufacturer.
W Motors, the first Arab developer of High Performance Luxury Sports cars in the Middle East, debuted its Hypercar, the Lyken at the Dubai Motor Show recently.
The Lyken name has been adapted from a mythical creature, the Lycan. These were werewolves with the posture and intelligence of man, but with extraordinary strength. And this is what W Motors intend their Lyken to be. With sharp lines and a very aggressive body, the Lyken aims to ruffle the feathers of the more established players in this expensive segment.
Available only in coupe form, the Lyken utilises a carbon composite body, complimented by exclusive exterior paint schemes. It is powered by a mid-mounted 3,4-litre, twin turbocharged, flat-six engine that develops a mammoth 552 kW at 7 100 r/min with a maximum 960 N.m. of torque produced at 4 000. These outputs help propel the 1 380 kg car from 0 – 100 km/h in 2,8 seconds, and from 0 – 200 km/h in 9,4 sec! Depending on gear ratios, the Lyken will reach a top speed of 385 km/h. The rear wheel drive Lyken comes with two transmission choices: a six speed sequential manual or a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. Both transmissions are mated with a limited slip differential.
Inside, the Lyken features a centre console finished in carbon fibre, a multifunction sports steering wheel, dual-stage driver/passenger front airbags, trip computer, satellite navigation and LED ambient lighting, to mention a few.
With the Lyken limited to only seven units, W Motors hopes to build the most exclusive, luxurious and unique hypercar in the world.
