Honda Europe has just released a few images of the 2012 Civic destined for EU markets ahead of its Frankfurt Motor Show debut later this week. The pictures pretty much give away all of the exterior detail, but the rest remains a mystery. This vehicle will debut in South Africa at the upcoming Johannesburg Motor Show, too, but only go on sale next year.
The EU Civic is actually arrives quite a few months after the North American version in terms of release date (the American version made its debut at NAIAS in January), but it seems the extra time was spent on design, as the European hatchback is a far cry from its cousin across the Atlantic.
According to the Honda release, inspiration for the Civic’s styling include “a ‘blended wing body' aeroplane in which the fuselage and wings blend into a single body for superior aerodynamic performance”.
No information on what lies beneath that new look has been released, but Honda has promised to reduce the Civic’s carbon footprint, as well as improve ride and handling and offer class-leading interior space.
CAR will report live about the Civic and the other attractions of the Frankfurt Motor Show later this week.
