[Honda News] Honda has released the first official images of its all-new Jazz. Built on an all-new platform, the new Jazz will be slightly bigger than the model that it replaces.
Styling wise, the new Jazz borrows some styling cues from the 2012 Insight and the current Civic with swept-back headlamps merging into a single grille louvre and strongly sculpted character lines on the flanks.
The engine line-up is expected to be made up of 1,2- and 1,4-litre VTEC petrol engines and a 1,5-litre unit working in conjunction with an electric motor for a hybrid version. A six-speed manual and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission are expected to be on offer. For the Hybrid version, there will be three driving modes – EV, hybrid and engine.
The new platform will see the Jazz grow by 60 mm in length (3 960 mm) and with a wheelbase that’s 80 mm longer than that of the current car. This platform is expected to form the base of a mini SUV that could rival the Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster.
The new Honda Jazz goes on sale in Japan in September.
