We have previously speculated on the possibility of a 4 Series Gran Coupé followed by spy photographs that surfaced online. Now BMW has released the first details of its upcoming 4 Series Gran Coupé.
The 4 Series Gran Coupé has the same dimensions in terms of length, width and wheelbase compared to its two-door coupé sibling, but the roof is slightly higher (12 mm) and longer (112 mm). The level of practicality is also a notch up with the boot swallowing an additional 35 litres compared to the Coupé’s claimed 480 litres.
The engine line up that BMW SA is likely to launch will constitute the following models:
435i – 3,0-litre turbopetrol (225 kW/400 N.m)
428i – 2,0-litre turbopetrol (180 kW350 N.m)
420i – 2,0-litre turbopetrol (135 kW/270 N.m)
420d – 2,0-litre turbodiesel (135 kW/380 N.m)
Three gearbox options will become available. The six-speed manual gearbox followed by the eight-speed Steptronic or the sport Steptronic transmission.

A BMW SA spokesperson confirmed that the 4 Series Gran Coupé will arrive on our shores in July. Expect the car to make its official unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland next month.
