After a leaked patent image, numerous spy photographs, and leaked pictures, the Fiat 500X has finally made its world debut at the Paris Motor Show.
Fiat’s new compact crossover is now the sixth member of the 500 family after the iconic hatch was revived in 2007. The 500X joins the likes of the 500C and 500L as well as the original nuovo 500. Two different versions of the 500X will be made available – one geared for leisure and recreation, and the other more suited for urban use.
Initially, the 500X will be made available with three engines, two turbodiesels and a single turbopetrol motor. The company’s 90 kW 1,6 Multijet engine will be mated with a six-speed manual gearbox that sends torque to the front wheels, while the 104 kW 2,0 Multijet variant will use a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system. The 1,4 Turbopetrol MultiAir will also make use of a six-speed manual and front-wheel drive.
Powertrains that will be introduced later include a 2,4-litre normally aspirated Tigershark engine and a 1,3 turbodiesel multijet, with all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive respectively.
