Ford has launched its Tourneo Connect people carrier in South Africa. As expected the Tourneo Connect is equipped with several storage spaces and a multitude of storage options to assist with loading almost any possible type of luggage or equipment.
Buyers will also be able to choose from three specification levels and two wheelbase options. The Ambiente and Trend levels will be based on the short-wheelbase, five-seater platform. The Titanium trim level will be based on the long-wheelbase, Grand Tourneo Connect with either a five-seat setup or the optional seven-seat setup.
With all the seats folded flat, Ford claims the short-wheelbase Tourneo Connect can swallow up to 2 620 dm3, and 2 761 dm3 in the case of the Grand Tourneo Connect.
The range will feature four models. It starts with the 1,0-litre EcoBoost Ambiente SWB producing 74 kW/170 N.m.
Next up is the 1,0-litre EcoBoost Trend, also based on the SWB. Finally the 1,6-litre TDCi (85 kW/285 N.m) and 1,6-litre EcoBoost (110 kW/240 N.m) Titanium based on the LWB Grand Tourneo will be the top-of-the-range models.
Fuel consumption for these three engines range from 4,9 litres per 100 km to 8,0 litres per 100 km.
Apart from the TDCi’s service intervals of 15 000 km, all the other derivatives’ service intervals are 20 000 km. The service plans for the petrol models are 3-years/60 000 km (4-years/60 000 km for the TDCi) and the warranty stretches for 4-years/120 000 km.
