Following the teaser video (see above), McLaren has now revealed the first pictures of its new supercar, as well as the technical details and specifications.
There are two facts that really stand out. Firstly it is the turbocharged 3,8-litre, V8 engine. This is a similar unit as found in the 650S, but, according to McLaren more than 50% of the parts are new. The result is an increase of power and torque of 18,6 kW and 22 N.m. That means 503 kW and 700 N.m!
Secondly, McLaren has been able to drop the 675LT’s weight by 100 kg. Having tested and experience the 650S (watch our track test video here), we can almost not imagine how they have been able to reduce the weight even further, but they have. The dry weight is only 1 230 kg.
The dash to 100 km/h now only takes a claimed 2,9 seconds, 200 km/h is achieved in 7,9 seconds (0,5 seconds faster) and top speed is 330 km/h.
The exterior features several updates compared to the 650S. The front bumper gains vertical winglets in front of the wheels. Along the side the sills have been widened to incorporate a low air intake.
The rear has been totally redesigned to incorporate a new bumper, exhaust and diffuser system. There are also additional air outlets behind the rear wheels and a redesigned wing as part of the “long-tail” description. Look inside, and the seats are now made from a carbon fibre shell.
This is not the only car McLaren will unveil at Geneva. Its top-of-the-range McLaren P1 GTR is also heading to Geneva.

The momentum is clearly building up to this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Apart from several highlights this week (Ferrari 488 GTB, Focus RS and Porsche Cayman GT4), McLaren has released its second teaser video of the upcoming 675LT.
The first video (watch it here) showed a rear wheel spinning, while the video above gives us a glimpse of the rear of the car as well as the exhaust note at speed.
From this clip it is clear that the rear wing won’t be retractable as the one on the 650S. This means it could either be fixed, or with fixed pillars but still a moveable plane.
The cooling system around the exhaust system have also been upgraded, while the exhaust pipes are new and wider. This signals to the implementation of a new system, which also contributes to the improved exhaust sound.
Revealed in Geneva next month, expect the McLaren 675LT to arrive in South Africa before the end of the year.
