Opel’s compact hatchback, the Adam, has been spotted in South Africa. A CAR reader, Paul Eke, sent these two images which were taken in Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape, close to GMSA’s headquarters in Port Elizabeth.
The Opel Adam has been on sale overseas for some time, but the car will only be launched to the local media next month. Weeks later, in January, the Adam will arrive in Opel’s showrooms.
GMSA confirmed to CAR that this specific model is used for local homologation and testing. It also shows one of the possible colour combinations that buyers will be able to spec their car in, with the two-tone purple and white combination.
It is unclear at this stage which engine options will become available. Overseas a 1,4-litre and 1,2-litre, four-cylinder, petrol engine are available, as well as a smaller 1,0-litre, three-cylinder unit. We expect Opel to at least offer the 1,4-litre unit in South Africa.
Look out for the full pricing structure and details of the Opel Adam in the coming weeks.
