Following the launch of the Polo facelift in South Africa, Volkswagen is launching today the new Polo Vivo.
As the pictures suggest, it is a very minor facelift. The main changes can be found in the headlights and chrome enhancements in the grille.
The new range will be offered with four different equipment lines. These will be made up of the Conceptline, Blueline, Trendline and Comfortline. As before, the hatch derivative will also be offered with the “sportier” GT model and the Maxx with its higher ground clearance. The side mirrors and door handles of the Trendline, Comfortline and GT models will be offered in body colour.
Improvements have been made to the interior trim, while the Comfortline, GT and Maxx will now feature a height adjustable driver seat.
Equipment
A CD/radio/MP3/Bluetooth/USB infotainment system with four speakers will come standard on the Trendline, but will be optional on the Conceptline and Blueline. The Comfortline, GT and Maxx will receive an additional two speakers.
Standard safety features across the range now include ABS brakes, an alarm and remote central locking.
The Polo Vivo features electro/hydraulic power steering. According to Volkswagen, depending on the speed and weight of the car, the hydraulic system will supply a higher or lower level of pressure. The result is that the system uses as little fuel as possible.
Engines
The engine range is still made up of the 1,4 and 1,6-litre petrol engines, delivering between 55 and 77 kW. A five-speed manual gearbox supplies the torque to the front wheels while a tiptronic automatic transmission is also available with the 1,4-litre engine (63 kW) in both the hatch and the sedan.
