Porsche has released this official video of the new Porsche (991) 911 ahead of its Frankfurt Motor Show debut. It seems a good secret is difficult to keep these days and soon after “leaked” images of the new 911 hit the net a more official stance was adopted from Porsche AG. Official-looking images of the new 991 Porsche 911 have been leaked on to the net ahead of the cars scheduled unveiling at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Once again it seems Porsche has been reluctant to tamper too much with the winning formula that has seen the 911 become one of the best selling sportscars of all time. Obvious changes include a new headlamp design (incorporating all-LED technology), lower and wider front bumper (including more LED technology), new side mirrors and sharp, re-moulded rear. The new car is reportedly around 50 mm longer than the model it replaces and this, in turn, allows for a longer wheelbase.
Images of the new cars interior reveal inspiration taken from within the existing Porsche family, most notably the Panamera.
Rumour has it Porsche will offer a 3,4-litre version of its flat-six engine in Carrera models, while Carrera S models will deliver 300 kW at 7 000 r/min from a 3,8-litre direct-injection flat-six unit. A choice of either seven-speed manual or dual-clutch PDK transmissions will be offers.
