Honda’s popular CR-V is due for an update next year, and now that patent pictures have been leaked onto the Internet we can get a good idea of how the company’s next-generation compact SUV will look.
The overall design doesn’t deviate much from that of the CR-V Concept, with a more aggressive front that dispenses with the current car’s double-bumper styling. Much like the recently revealed new Civic, the next-generation CR-V will probably be quite an acquired taste.
Honda has yet to divulge much in the way of technical details surrounding the new CR-V, but it is underpinned by an all-new platform while the powerplants will reportedly be cleaner and more efficient derivatives of the current units. Much like the outgoing car, the new model is also expected to utilise a part-time four-wheel-drive system, possibly linked with new transmissions.
The new CR-V will make its official debut at the Orange County International Auto Show in Anaheim. Both the CR-V and the new Civic are expected to arrive on the South African market towards the middle of next year.
