The Nissan GT-R is everyone’s loved supercar slayer; while some love it, others just love to hate it. Whichever camp you fall in you cannot deny the performance of the super coupe from Japan.
While fans are always waiting for the next model to break cover Nissan’s chief creative officer, Shiro Nakamura, recently confirmed in an interview that the next generation (R36) will only break cover in 2018. In essence that means that the lifespan of the current (R35) car will be ten years long.
Nakamura says that there is plenty of life left in the R35 yet. As was the case with previous versions of the GTR and with the R35, Nissan will continue to tweak and evolve the current model eking out more performance from the twin-turbocharged 3,8-litre V6.
Nakamura-san did not give away any details regarding the R36 but did hint that the powertrain will have a hybrid component and will remain true to its coupe roots continuing with a 2+2 configuration.
Don’t be surprised to see several design cues carried over from theĀ 2020 Vision Gran Turismo concept when the R36 GTR makes its debut in a few years time.
