Following the Internet leak of two images yesterday, Land Rover has now released more images and information of the 2013 Range Rover, due for its international launch at the Paris Motor Show and for South African sale in January 2013.
The Evoque-influenced design is likely to cause considerable debate but it’s certainly not bland. The influence of Range Rover’s smaller model can also be seen inside. With over 118 mm more legroom, the rear occupants benefit from increased space and comfort, with the option of a new two-seat Executive Class seating package for the ultimate in rear-seat luxury.
It is packed with the latest developments in vehicle technologies, from interior luxury features such as exclusive Meridian surround sound systems and powered upper and lower tailgates, to advanced chassis and driver assistance technologies.
The fourth generation Range Rover is an all-new model that has been developed from the ground up, and is claimed to be the world’s first SUV with a lightweight all-aluminium monocoque body structure (39 per cent lighter than the steel body in the outgoing model, enabling total vehicle weight savings of up to 420 kg).
In addition to lightweight body, an all-new aluminium front and rear chassis architecture has been developed with completely re-engineered four-corner air suspension. The new suspension architecture is claimed to deliver flatter, more confident cornering.
Amongst the innovations is a next-generation version of Land Rover’s Terrain Response system, which analyses the current driving conditions and automatically selects the most suitable vehicle settings for the terrain.
Customers have a choice of V8 petrol and TDV6 and TDV8 diesel engines (no specifications just yet).
